I've always been one to toil over the Exact Right Card to get someone. In fact, one of my pet hates is birthday cards that look like they've been lamenting in someone's in-case-I-forget drawer. Make an effort, people. I judge.

Hmm, they are witty but virtually all of that wit is taken from dearblankpleaseblank.com!
That said, I do love receiving letterpress cards and other interesting occasion-neutral ones that can be displayed indefinitely - they look great on bookshelves.
